The Tamil Nadu State Yoga Development Association and Life Power World Yoga Centre jointly held a state level yoga competition conducted at Vaishnavi Mahal, Thirumullaivoil, Chennai on 15/08/2012.
The function was preceded by Mr. B. Jayaraman, who lit the light and made a grand start.
The competition was started by Yogi P.S. Nehru, President of Chennai District Yoga Development Association. The competition was performed in the age group of 3-65. There were 540 participants and nine groups were divided among them. They hail from Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and other districts. All of the 540 yoga students participated in the competition.
Dr. P. Venugopal, M.P. of Thiruvallur presided over the function in the afternoon and distributed the prizes for the winners. He also appreciated Life Power World Yoga Centre for their service in Yoga on all levels like Social awareness, Health Management, Students' mental health and Yoga therapies for the past 25 years from 1987 to 2012. Mr. Lion. Suresh and Mr. P. Durairaj blessed the young and talented participants. The Yoga Prayer song was sung by all of the yoga trainers and yoga professors and disciples.
The overall championship prize was won by Sri Krishna Mulchand Maheswari Vivekananda School, Thiruninravur. The second prize went to Soundarapandian Matriculation School, Villivakkam. The third prize was given to Sri Niketan School from Thiruvallur. The Fourth Prize was given to Gnana Vidhyalaya School, Thiruvallur.
There was a special and honor prizes for chief yoga disciples of "Hatha Yogi" Dr. G.T. Anbarasan. There were 20 of the yoga disciples who were doing this service for more than 12 years and all of them were honored.
"Yoga Jothi" Mr. Titus Perera, Head of Life Power International Yoga Centre, Sri Lanka with his four member team participated in the competition flying all the way from Sri Lanka to Chennai. They performed different sorts of asanas. They were honored.
The evening function went well. The function started with a welcome note by Ms. M. Geetha, the State Womens' yoga propagator.
The functions was preceded by Mr. J. Raghukumar, President, of Tamilnadu State Yoga Development Association and Headed by "Hatha Yogi" Dr. G.T. Anbarasan, Founder & General Secretary of Tamilnadu State Yoga Development Association .
The concluding note was given by Mr. P. Kumar, General Secretary of Thiruvannamalai State Yoga Development Association.
The arrangements for the function was well taken care of by Executive Members Dr. Swamiyappan, Mr. P. Velayudham and by Mr. M. Dhandapani, Treasurer, Mr. Dhayalan, Joint secretary, Mr. A. Ganesh, Office Secretary and by Mr. A. Aruleeswaran, Propaganda Secretary, of Tamil State Yoga Development Association.
